Sultan of Suave

"There is no sound more feminine than a woman in a taffeta dress."
-Oscar de la Renta

I first came across Oscar de la Renta's designs on one of the advertisements in Vogue magazine. They were tulle gowns of his 2012 Fall/Winter collection. The drape and colours looked so different from the usual couture gowns. It sucked me right in and I've been hooked ever since.
He was the couture king and his name always reminds me of his feminine, frothy and elegant gowns. His designs were such that they could make any woman look beautiful. He will always be missed on the red carpet as there's no one who could do gowns like Oscar did.
I've compiled few of my favourite designs from his collections to honour and celebrate this legendary designer.
Rest in peace, Oscar de la Renta.

Denim Penchant

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

No matter how hard I try not to, I always end up buying a piece of denim clothing every now and then. Skinny jeans, regular ones, distressed, shirts, skirts, jackets, I'm pretty much obsessed.

I bought this particular piece, a lightweight denim jumpsuit from Elle, at a great price (Rs 1600 after a discount of 55%) a few months back. Comfort and style, this is what it speaks to me. It has a halter tie up with fabric braiding on the waist at the front and smocking at the back. The broad patch of braiding makes it look high waist and legs longer.

Since it is a single garment and has a look of its own, I decided not to play much with it and concentrated on the accessories and footwear.
I left my hair loose and tied a turban with one of my scarves, adding colour to the look and carrying my tan brown 3 Mad Chicks bag. The brown colour against blue and the telephone print adds character to an otherwise simple ensemble.
In the second look, I've tied my hair up in a bun and put on my spectacles, giving the ensemble a chic and classy feel.

Travel Diaries: Episode 1: Road Trip to McLeod Ganj

After a month of constant slogging at work, one deserves a break. As the saying goes, "All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy." :D
This post is about my road trip to McLeod Ganj. I wasn't really planning to write about the trip here since I could hardly click any pictures of street fashion in McLeod or my OOTDs, but the place was so amazing that I cannot stop gushing about it. :D

The last month had been pretty crazy and hectic with mid semester submissions and on top of that, the tragedy with my laptop. It was high time that I took a break. So instead of rushing home right after my exams (like I usually do), I went off to McLeod Ganj (also Dharamshala and Dharamkot) for a couple of days.

Dharamshala is a hill station in Himachal with beautiful scenery & weather. Its peaceful environment is in contrast with the fact that it is crowded with hordes of people from all over the world. Delicious cuisine (at very reasonable prices) is a cherry on top. You can eat to your heart's content and taste all the dishes that you normally wouldn't eat. Try as much as you can but the bill would never go above 1000 bucks! I must've tasted a lot dishes but couldn't include the pictures here.

Now coming to fashion. Since Dharamshala is basically a tourist place and also, a major chunk of population there consists of Tibetans, the street fashion is eclectic and not something you'd normally see elsewhere in India. I wish I could attach pictures (visuals are self-explanatory :D) but I didn't have my camera on me.

Most of my days were majorly spent either eating or sleeping (hostel does that to you :/), so we didn't explore the place much except for a day or two. But overall McLeod is a perfect getaway for people who've got wanderlust. I'd love to go there again (mostly to eat!) and also carry my camera this time.

I love rabbits! Found these two cute little ones at the hotel we stayed at

Thank you, Reetika, for sharing all these pictures with me! :)

Dress Like A Dandy

I'd been waiting for a long time to post the pictures of this shoot. Female dandyism, or wearing menswear-inspired clothes never goes out of fashion. Everyone loves a woman impeccably dressed in a pantsuit or a white shirt, cropped pants, bow-tie and Oxford brogues with a feminine touch.
I personally love the female dandy and feel it's the closest to my personal style. It's a cool, effortless look yet very stylish and sexy.

For the dandy look, I'm wearing a light blue embroidered cotton shirt with a pair of dark blue jeans, its hem rolled up, showing a bit of ankles. The shirt is an export surplus product and one of my best finds from all my Janpath shopping till date! I absolutely love the little embroidered birds on it.
I've had this suspender-fetish for quite sometime now and found these tan and and cream coloured suspenders at Indian Terrain. I couldn't help myself from buying these even though they're a little too big for me (they're menswear accessories). I finally decided to use these suspenders to complete the look and add colour to the ensemble.
Added to the ensemble my favourite suede Oxford wedges, Wayfarer glasses and finished with red lips and a messy high bun.
Enjoy the post! Dress dapper. ;)
